At Fox Coverts Scout Campsite, we’ve always prided ourselves on being a place where young people can connect with nature, build life skills, and create lifelong memories. Our site is an integral part of the scouting community, but like many outdoor spaces, it requires regular maintenance to ensure it remains a safe and enjoyable place for all. Recently, we were fortunate enough to welcome the wonderful team from Cadent Gas Networks, who spent an entire day volunteering and making a real difference to our site.
A Day of Hard Work and Team Spirit
From the moment they arrived, the Cadent team hit the ground running, bringing their energy and skills to a range of much-needed tasks. Here’s a look at the incredible work they accomplished during their visit:
1. Installing a New Fence
One of the key projects on our to-do list was replacing a worn-out section of fencing along the edge of the shooting range. A new fence not only improves the appearance of the site but also enhances safety for the scouts and visitors who come to enjoy the outdoors. The Cadent team worked together to install a sturdy new fence, ensuring it would stand strong for many years to come.
2. Mending Our Broken Bridge
One of the most appreciated efforts from the Cadent volunteers was the repair of our beloved bridge. The bridge had seen better days and was in desperate need of some TLC. Thanks to Cadent’s handiwork, the bridge is now back to its former glory, providing a safe crossing for our scouts as they explore the beautiful surroundings.
3. Laying Mulch on the Paths
The team also laid fresh mulch along the paths leading to the stream, making them more defined and easier to navigate. The mulch will help with water drainage and prevent erosion, ensuring that our paths remain intact and functional even during wet weather.
Making a Lasting Impact
