🌿 Volunteers in Hinckley District Scouts & Fox Coverts

The people who make adventure possible

Across Hinckley District Scouts and at Fox Coverts Campsite, volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. Every hike, every campfire, every badge earned, every moment of discovery — it all happens because people choose to give their time, skills, and enthusiasm to help young people thrive.

Our volunteers come from all walks of life. Some support weekly meetings, others help behind the scenes, and many give their time outdoors at Fox Coverts. Together, they create safe, exciting, and life‑changing experiences for hundreds of young people every year.

Below are just some of the roles that make our district such a vibrant, welcoming place to grow and explore.

🌟 District‑Wide Volunteer Roles

Section Leaders & Assistants

The backbone of Scouting in Hinckley District. These volunteers run weekly sessions, plan activities, support camps, and help young people develop skills for life. Whether it’s Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, or Explorers, our leaders bring energy, creativity, and patience to every meeting.

Group Supporters & Executive Committees

Behind every successful Scout Group is a team of volunteers who handle governance, finances, fundraising, and administration. They keep groups running smoothly and ensure leaders have the support they need to deliver great programmes.

District Team & Activity Specialists

From training and safeguarding to adventurous activity permits, these volunteers help groups across the district deliver safe, high‑quality Scouting. They share expertise, run events, and support leaders so young people can enjoy a wide range of experiences.

Event Volunteers

District events — camps, competitions, activity days, and celebrations — rely on volunteers who plan, organise, and run them. These are the people who bring the big moments to life.

🌲 Fox Coverts Campsite Volunteers

Fox Coverts is a special place — a woodland campsite built and maintained entirely by volunteers. Every path cleared, building repaired, activity run, and group welcomed is thanks to people who care deeply about giving young people a place to explore the outdoors.

Maintenance Team

The hands‑on heroes who repair, build, tidy, and improve the site. They keep facilities safe, functional, and ready for adventure all year round.

Wardens

The friendly faces who welcome groups, open and close the site, support leaders during their stay, and ensure everything runs smoothly. They’re the heartbeat of the campsite.

Activity Teams

From climbing and abseiling to shooting and archery, these volunteers deliver safe, exciting activities that challenge young people and help them grow in confidence.

Programme & Events Volunteers

These volunteers help design and run activity days, themed events, and special weekends that bring the site to life.
