Location: Local Scout Groups
Reports to: Squirrel Lead / Group Lead Volunteer
Role Overview:
As a Squirrel Section Volunteer, you will play a key supporting role in delivering engaging and fun activities for young children aged 4-6 in the Squirrel Scouts. You will assist the Squirrel Leader in creating a safe, exciting, and inclusive environment where young children can explore new experiences, build confidence, and learn important life skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Activity Support: Help prepare and deliver activities, games, and outdoor adventures during Squirrel Scout meetings.
- Supervision: Assist in supervising the children during sessions to ensure their safety and well-being.
- Encouragement & Engagement: Provide encouragement and support to individual children, helping them to fully engage in activities and develop new skills.
- Set-up & Clean-up: Help set up materials and equipment for activities and assist with clean-up after the session.
- Team Collaboration: Work alongside the Squirrel Leader and other volunteers to ensure sessions run smoothly and are enjoyable for all.
- Positive Role Model: Demonstrate positive behavior and promote Scouting values such as respect, kindness, and teamwork.
Skills & Qualities:
- Friendly, patient, and approachable.
- Enjoy working with young children.
- Enthusiastic and willing to help in all aspects of the program.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Good communication skills with children and adults.
Time Commitment:
A commitment to assisting with weekly Squirrel Scout meetings (usually around an hour per week) and occasional events.
Training & Support:
No prior Scouting experience is required. All volunteers will receive full training, including safeguarding, health and safety, and support to develop in their role.
